Farmlands are a habitat that a lot of bird species use. As part of our new initiative, we will explore ways to improve the farmlands to to safeguard the species which use these habitats. Farming without chemicals, using seeds that are traditional, networking with farmers whose lands are vital for waterbirds, and engaging with communities who collectively manage wetlands: these are just a few of the initiatives we are trying to develop.

In October 2019, we studied the biodiversity of Rangamalai Organic Farms, Karur. We documented a rich diveristy of birds due to the environment-friendly farming practices carried out in the farm. Here’s the Pictorial guide to the Birds of Rangamalai Organic Farms.
